Community Report: Celebrating Limited Run Retail’s 4th Anniversary

Limited Run Retail celebrated its fourth birthday over the weekend the only way Limited Run Retail knows how: by hosting a special all-day community-oriented event. Dozens of LRG fans showed up to take advantage of some significant one-day discounts and a chance to pick up some rare items. More than that, though, everyone seemed eager to meet up with friends, hang out with fellow fans, and chat with the Retail team. One anonymous LRG community member even ordered a stack of 30 pizzas for attendees and staff!

The calm before the storm (and before the pizza!).

Folks continued streaming in throughout the day, lining up down the walkway and around the corner well into the afternoon.

The first batch of attendees wave hello to Nick and Bryce at the registers as they kick things off.

A young LRG fan shows off her sophisticated taste in literature.

A generous LRG fan fed their hungry peers—even if folks left the store empty-handed, they could still grab a couple of slices for the road.

Not that much of anyone left empty-handed, since the store-wide buy-two-get-one-free sale was a great excuse for people to pick up that chunky collector’s edition they’ve been eyeing for a while but just couldn’t talk themselves into. The checkout line wrapped around the corner for most of the day, too.

Plus, everyone who spent a certain amount at the register got to take a spelunking trip in the Treasure Box and take home a free out-of-print game from its depths.

And for those who are probably still on fixed allowances, such as this young fan, there were still good times to be had for free.

Finally, our own Jeremy Parish was on hand to sign copies of his latest book, The History of Metroidvania. (Shantae was just there for moral support.)
Thanks to everyone who came out to the store this weekend. Now, to figure out how to top this event for our fifth anniversary....
