To Me, My X-Men! (And a Bunch of Other Great Marvel Classics, Too)

Avengers (and everyone else) to assemble at limitedrungames.com on March 27.

This week, our pals on the Carbon team gave a presentation at the GDC Festival of Gaming News & Demo Stage 2026, where they offered fresh insights into Limited Run’s renewed approach to focusing on fans first as well as emulating and preserving classic games for modern systems!

Oh, and also, they dropped some firm details on the upcoming MARVEL MaXimum Collection.

No need to speculate about the titles included in the collection or when you can purchase it any longer! MARVEL MaXimum Collection goes up for a two-month preorder period on March 27. Physical editions of the collection will be available for purchase on Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series. You can also purchase digitally on Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Steam! And, in the spirit of the comics era that inspired these classic games, every physical copy will not only include a sticker and booklet insert but will also ship with foil-printed packaging. All that’s really missing is a polybag and acid-free backing board.Pictured: all the MARVEL MaXimum Collection details a growing boy or girl needs in their media diet.

In terms of what’s actually on the disc (or cartridge, if you prefer), MARVEL MaXimum Collection includes six sensational software titles sure to set your system to “scintillating”:

  •  X-Men: The Arcade Game
  • Captain America and the Avengers
  • Spider-Man & Venom: MaXimum Carnage
  • Venom & Spider-Man: Separation Anxiety
    Spider-Man & X-Men: Arcade’s Revenge
  • Silver Surfer

In a very real way, though, it’s more than just six titles. Many of these games originally shipped on multiple systems and offered significantly different experiences depending on the platform you selected. “But which of those versions are included in this collection?” you may wonder. We’ll have more announcements on that front soon, but the quick answer to your question is: “Yes!”

Pictured: A preview of Marvel’s latest super team? No, it’s just the Limited Run/Carbon crew. Heroes of a different sort.

Needless to say, MARVEL MaXimum Collection is a pretty big deal for us. And for you, we dare say. These games have never before been available for modern systems. And some of them have never been published as a physical release for home systems in any form, meaning that they’ve been susceptible to the most tragic video game fate of all: a digital shop delisting. Well, no longer. Once MARVEL MaXimum Collection ships, no one will be able to keep you from playing your cartridge (or disc, if you prefer). You don’t even have to worry about running short of quarters to finish X-Men: The Arcade Game in six-player mode.

Look forward to it, True Believers. March 27 is only a couple of weeks away.
